QUESTIONS ABOUT SERVICES I PROVIDE

DO YOU OFFER INTERPRETING SERVICES?

No, I specialize in Translation, so I work only with the written word.

WHAT LANGUAGES DO YOU WORK WITH?

I translate from English, Spanish, French and European Portuguese into Italian, my mother tongue.

WHY DO YOU ONLY SPECIALIZE IN LEGAL AND TECHNICAL TRANSLATION?

I believe that you can become an expert only in certain areas, maybe the ones you are knowledgeable in and passionate about. I consider myself an expert and therefore I work only in the areas in which I know I can produce top quality translations

If you are looking for medical or literary translation, I will be able to recommend a colleague or manage your project for you.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO TRANSLATE A DOCUMENT?

It depends on the type of service, length and difficulty of the source text. Generally, my daily output is about 3000 words/day for translations and 6000/8000 words/day for proofreading and editing. Having said that, please consider that very often I’m already working on some other projects when you get in touch. Therefore, I’m only able to assess how much it will take me to translate your documents after I see the files.

WHICH FORMATS DO YOU WORK WITH?

I accept the following types of file: .doc, .docx .pdf, .ppt, .pptx, .jpeg, .xml, .eps, .ai, .xliff. If your file is not in the list, just contact me and we will find a solution.

DO YOU DO DTP?

I offer desktop publishing as an additional service to my translation services: this means that I can help you prepare your documents  ready to print.

HOW CAN I PLACE AN ORDER?

You can fill in this form or send me an email specifying your needs. You can find me on Skype and on LinkedIn, too.

QUESTIONS ABOUT TERMS, COSTS AND PAYMENT

WHAT ARE YOUR TERMS AND CONDITIONS?

I follow a set of terms and conditions protecting both you and me as parties to a transaction in terms of payments, cancellations, copyright, confidentiality and many other aspects. Before confirming an assignment, you’ll receive a copy of my full terms and conditions.

HOW CAN I GET A FREE QUOTE?

It’s easy! Just fill in the form in the Contact page or send an email to adelina[AT] adelinarossano.com

When requesting a quote, please indicate your name or company name, your email or other type of contact, the type of service you are asking for and attach the file you need to have translated/proofread/edited/transcribed/localized. If you have any relevant reference material or prior translations, please send them too (in order to avoid misunderstandings and ensure accuracy and consistency).

HOW MUCH DOES A TRANSLATION COST?

Each project is unique, so the cost of a translation may vary depending on its length, difficulty, subject, urgency and tools to be used. Unlike an agency, I do not have overhead costs, so I can keep my rates competitive without compromising quality.
All quotes are free of charge and non-binding. They are generally provided in EUR and USD. Please indicate in your message the way you would like the quote expressed.
To request a quote, fill in the form.

WHAT DOES THE PRICE INCLUDE?

  • The service requested for the agreed number of words
  • Double-check revision and proofreading
  • Check and editing of layout
  • Terminology research
  • Communication via telephone, email, skype, etc.

NOTES
In case of urgent requests (delivery in 24 hours or less) or that require working on public holidays, a surcharge of 30% may be applied.
If material is sent in non-electronic or non-editable format/support (fax, photocopies, non-editable pdf files, etc.) said surcharge may be equally applied to compensate for the additional difficulty (and the consequent increase of the time required to finish the job). Any information or material will be kept strictly confidential according to the Italian Legislative Decree No. 196/2003.

HOW CAN I PAY FOR YOUR SERVICES?

I accept payments via PayPal or bank transfer within 30 days from issuing of the invoice. If you have several projects to translate, I will create one single invoice at the end of the month to make things easier for you.

QUESTIONS ABOUT MY PROFILE

WHY SHOULD I HIRE YOU?

  • I am a qualified and highly trained translator
  • I have experience in the field since 2008
  • I have a professional attitude
  • I ensure fast turnaround and on-time delivery
  • I continue to develop skills and competences attending courses and conferences
  • I endorse official codes of conduct
  • I ensure integrity and confidentiality

WHAT IS YOUR EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND?

I hold a bachelor’s degree in Linguistic Mediation and a master’s degree in Foreign Languages for International Communication. Then I took a postgraduate specialization in Legal and Business Translation in Italian, English and Spanish. However, since I completed my studies, I’ve been complementing my formal education with several courses, trying to combine linguistic expertise with field-specific knowledge.

ARE YOU A MEMBER OF A PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATION?

Yes. I am member of several professional translation associations, including the Italian Association of Translators and Interpreters (AITI), Translators without borders and Proz.com. I’m also a member of Rete al Femminile, the Italian association of women entrepreneurs.

ARE YOU AN AGENCY?

No, I am a professional freelance translator and I deliver most of the work by myself. When it comes to larger projects, I entrust a network of trusted colleagues whom I can collaborate with, but only with your consent. I do not outsource work.

HOW DO YOU ENSURE QUALITY?

I only translate texts I am confident with. I double-check and proofread my translations and I provide a post-translation assistance service to answer any questions may arise after delivery.

DO YOU HAVE A CPD PLAN?

The world we are living in is continuously evolving and changing shape. In this context, it is extremely important to keep up to date: for this reason, I attend different conferences, webinars, and courses every year relating to my fields of work, in order to improve my skills and give my clients the best service ever.

QUESTIONS ABOUT TOOLS I USE

WHAT SOFTWARE DO YOU USE?

I have extensive experience with several different types of software, including translation and localization tools and DTP applications. This means that I can handle documents in almost any format. I work on Windows and my software toolbox includes Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Suite, SLD Trados 2019, Transit XV, SDL MultiTerm, Passolo, Dreamweaver, InDesign CC 2014, Photoshop CS 6.

DO YOU USE MACHINE TRANSLATION?

No, and I recommend you don’t do that either. Avoid Google Translate and other free or budget translation services: they are based on algorithms that cut your texts in segments and compare them with previously translated sentences taken from other source documents. They do not take in consideration context, communication purposes, semantics and even grammar. This means that almost always you will get a bad translation that can ruin your reputation, depreciate your brand and nullify your work.
